the illusion of recycling plastic

Almost all of us have seen the chasing arrow symbol, three arrows bending into each other and that universally imply the product is “recyclable”. But is it really? How do these products get sorted? Who sorts the products and where? At what cost? These are the questions that an eye-opening documentary from PBS explores. More often, “recycled” plastic from high consumption countries end up in the the global south, countries where regulation is lax and where the direct environmental consequence is felt by the most vulnerable.
